Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How do we make reservations?
A: Start by visiting our reservations page for details, but you can also look through our accommodations page to see what type of room you'd like to reserve; or check out our prices pages for more information about wedding packages and accommodations pricing. Or find out more about diving packages and pricing at the Octopus Diving School website.
Q: How do we get to Roatan?
A: Continental, TACA and Delta all provide non-stop service to Roatan from either Miami (TACA), Houston (Continental), or Atlanta (Delta) on Saturdays and Sundays. TACA, Continental, and American Airlines all have daily flights to San Pedro Sula (on the Honduras mainland) where you would change planes and fly to Roatan on one of the commuter flights. You can search for airfares from your home city on each of these airlines' websites. Roatan's airport code is RTB and San Pedro Sula's is SAP. We are very good at finding routes and discounted airfare around your dates and we will be glad to help you with your travel needs.
Q: How do we get to Blue Bahia Resort?
A: Taxis are abundant at the airport upon your arrival. A Taxi will charge you $20 USD to get to Blue Bahia Resort. If you would like us to arrange for a van to pick you up, we can for about $15. All we need is your arrival time and flight number!
Q: What about the bugs?
A: These are the tropics and there are bugs. However, we have taken steps to mitigate the pesky bugs in a sound, environmentally-friendly way. You should pack insect repellent as a precaution (we also sell it here if you forget).
Q: What about emergencies? Is there medical care?
A: Absolutely, and it is quite good. We are also located just down the beach from Anthony's Key and they maintain a doctor on site as well as a recompression chamber.
Q: Can people contact us in an emergency?
A: Without a doubt! Yes we have a direct line into the resort. The number is 011-504-445-3385.
Q: Do we need a passport? What about shots?
A: Yes on the passport NO on the shots.
Q: What about cash and credit cards?
A: Most places take credit cards. The US dollar is loved! Bring lots of them. If you run out of cash, there are ATMs on the island.
Q: Do we need a lot of money to visit Roatan; is it expensive?
A: Roatan is perhaps one of the best values in the Caribbean. The US dollar is accepted but the lempira is the official currency. Exchanges are at about 18Lps to the dollar. My gramps could tell how expensive a place was by the price of a beer; a beer is around a buck-fifty at Blue Bahia. Enough said.
Q: What about children?
A: If you have them, bring them! Children of all ages are welcome on Roatan and will love the island life...we guarantee it!
